Store Assistant Manager – CHEDDAR ET CETERA – AF2015-0015

Role and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Assistant-Manager ensures the smooth operation of the store. He/She must provide support to store employees in the daily operations and also support the manager in putting in place an Exceptional Customer Service experience for our Guests. This needs to be accomplished while respecting the rules for Health and Safety, Sanitation, Quality and maintaining a good working environment.

Main Tasks

  • Ensure that an Exceptional Customer Service experience for our Guests is put in place; welcoming customers, displaying courtesy, answering questions and assisting customers as needed, handling complaints, granting returns and refunds.
  • Act as a leader by setting the example, as well as promoting staff autonomy.
  • Support the Store Manager in supervising store employees, guide employees in their work and in their customer service.
  • Respecting and enforcing rules that are established for Health and Safety, Hygiene, Sanitation and Food handling at all times.
  • Promote product knowledge and training for all staff focusing on Cheese in particular.
  • Assist in the marketing of our products and in inventory management, placing orders, receiving and shipping orders, filling shelves, rotating stock, entering invoices, inventory counts, all according to the policies that pertain to each task or step.
  • Process sales, open and close the store and the registers, keep a low level of cash in circulation, replenish money in the registers if necessary, balance all sales transactions at the end of each day, keep all receipts and vouchers, record and prepare daily sales and deposits, keep safe closed and locked at all times, all according to the policies that pertain to each task or step.
  • Perform all other related duties.

Qualifications and Experiences

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year experience in a similar position and/or a position in Customer Service.
  • Good knowledge of the Cheese and/or Food industry. Retail background is an asset as well.
  • Flexible availability of hours depending on the hours of operation for the store (days, evenings and weekends).

  • Excellent communication skills : Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Independent : Exercises autonomy in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to him/her.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Bilingual : English and French, spoken and written.
