Restaurant Assistant manager/Kitchen Manager AF2015-0006

Role and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Restaurant Manager, the Assistant manager oversees all daily operations of the restaurant. He must provide support to restaurant employees during the day to day operations and also assist the Manager in delivering an exceptional customer service experience. This is to be accomplished while observing all proper procedures for health and safety, sanitation, quality rules and standards and maintaining a good work environment.

Main Tasks

  • Deliver an exceptional customer service; welcoming customers in a courteous manner, answers questions and assists customers as needed, handles complaints, grants returns and refunds
  • Active involvement in preparating, in cooking, and helping serving of customers in the front of the house,
  • Manage back of the house and front of the house staff and ensure good communication between both teams
  • Assist the Manager in sales management and in providing sound management of the restaurant; inventory control; placing orders, receiving stock, stock rotation, work schedules and budgeting hours, meeting sales targets and profits and improving the menu
  • In collaboration with the Manager, manage daily operations of the restaurant
  • Act as a leader and develop staff through training and follow-up
  • Respect and enforce rules: established for health and safety, hygiene, sanitation and food handling at all times
  • Plan and promote learning and development of knowledge for all staff
  • Responsible for opening and closing the restaurant
  • Perform all other related duties

Qualifications and Experiences

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • College degree in Restaurant Management, Hospitality Management or Chef training or any appropriate discipline
  • Minimum six (6) months experience in a similar position
  • Work schedule as required by the restaurant (day, evening and weekend)

  • Adaptability and flexibility: Able to easily adapt to the challenges offered by a company in constant evolution.
  • Resourcefulness: Identifies and uses appropriate means to fulfill any mandate. Highly motivated, self-directed and driven for results
  • Curiosity: Loves to learn and maintain best practices and trends in the field
  • Excellent communication skills: Communicates effectively both verbally and in written and has strong interpersonal skills
  • Independent: Exercises autonomy in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to him
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Bilingual: English and French, spoken and written
